One day at work, I saw a great horned owl in the middle of the day near a dead pigeon. I couldn't figure out what exactly it was doing because I always thought that owls were nocturnal hunters and are not likely to go after daytime prey. I was able to approach this certain owl but I decided to leave it alone since it did not look injured. It stayed in that area for another day but eventually it moved on. Coming face-to-face with a large bird like this is really exhilarating. This painting is titled "The night watchman", watercolor 10"x14".
